Migrate to Windows Dev Center

Posted on: August 9, 2012

Hi Devs,

Microsoft is expanding the availability of the Dev Center (formerly App Hub) and you can check if your country is now available on Dev Center here.

If your country is listed you can now register your own developer account with Microsoft and if you follow the migration instructions below, Microsoft will reimburse your first year membership to Dev Center (only until September 17th 2012, so hurry up).

Dev Center provides you access to additional features such as:

1.       Ability to submit unlimited ‘paid’ apps* and 100 ‘free’ apps directly

2.       Ability to unlock 3 devices

3.       Direct access to downloads, royalty, and crash reports

4.       Ability to update account data

5.       Country/region specific pricing

6.       New reporting views

7.       Simplified process for submitting apps

8.       Submit apps to almost two hundred countries/regions

9.       Can now have 10,000 beta testers

10.    View all reviews in one place

We want to ensure your migration of your registration and applications to Dev Center is as smooth as possible. To migrate, you will have to register on Dev Center using the same email address as the one you provided to Yalla Apps and provide a credit card number.   Please do NOT pay with PayPal as Microsoft cannot support reimbursement of fees paid for with PayPal.  You can begin publishing new apps* immediately.

In late October/mid November, Microsoft will migrate the apps you have published today through Yalla to your new account (you will have to fill a special form as outlined in the migration instructions).   If you want to republish apps immediately, you can ask Yalla Apps to unpublish your apps (please login to your dashboard to unpublish your app as usual) and you can republish via your own account; however, you will lose ratings and reviews and the ability to update the app for your existing users.

CLICK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS FOR FREE REGISTRATION TO THE DEV CENTER FOR 1 YEAR AND APP MIGRATION.

Please note that the free 1 year of Dev Center registration offer is available only between August 7, 2012 and September 7, 2012. During this time you will still have access to your Yalla account if you decide to migrate.

Also, note that by agreeing to create an account on Dev Center, we will move the apps you have published today with Yalla Apps to your new Dev Center Account. This means that you will:

1.       Have access to all of yours apps in Dev Center.

2.       Retain your existing app users for updates

3.       Retain reviews for your apps.

4.       Retain star ratings.

Once again, we would like to ensure that your process of migration to Microsoft Dev Center is as smooth as possible, and that you enjoy the additional features by being a registered member of Dev Center. For any questions about this message, please contact support@yallaapps.com.

I am from Morocco,
What should I do If I want publish my application ?
Will I give money ti do that ?

Hi,

All you need to do is follow the migration instructions and sign up on Dev Centre by paying for the subscription.
Once you have done that – you will be refunded the amount by the App Hub after the migration deadline (September 7) in 60 – 90 days.

You are entitled for a free developer account on Dev Centre as long as you are a member of YA.

Can you please provide direct link to the pdf file. I can’t view or download it.

I have apps waiting, should I delete them and publish again on App Hub ? or wait till you reply with publish or testing failed?

Hi Siham,

You need to delete them all your unpublilshed apps and submit them again through your own account on the Dev Centre.

Thanks.

Thanks a lot!! That was useful to me as well….

I have a question about address.
I registered at YallaApps with [address 1] and at DevCenter with [address 2]. What the address I need use in the form http://prototype.form2go.com/28774.html ?

Can I just stay with Yallaapps and not do this migration ??

can I just stay with yalla apps and not migrate ??

Hi,
We appreciate that you would like to stay with us but unfortunately, Yalla Apps has plans to stop app submission services since Dev Center is now open in most countries. We would urge you to migrate to the Dev Centre to have a free developer account for one year and enjoy their benefits for app submissions.

Thank you once again for your interest.

Hi, during subscription in the payment section they told that my Microsoft Account isn’t associated to any Dreamspark account, however I have a dreamspark account with a Gmail address.
You’re Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Demor,
You would need to contact Dev Center for support on this. As we do not have any information on this matter.
Thanks.

Hi, i cannot create a dev center account because they say my address is not a dreamspark recognize one, but a create my yalla Apps account with it and a dreamspark code. Whay should I do ?

Hi Christian,
You would need to contact Dev Center for support on this. As we do not have any information on this matter.
Thanks.

I registered through YallaApps before (student account) and now successively registered on Dev Center and filled migration form still don’t see my apps that already published through Dev center ??

Hi,

Please note that the apps that you have already published with the YA will not be migrated to your account on Dev Center immediately. This migration will be handled by App Hub in October/November when they perform the final migration. This has been clearly mentioned in our blog post too.

If you wish to change the Publisher name immediately – you need to delete the apps from the YA and then submit them again through your own developer account on Dev Centre. In this case, you will lose the ratings, downloads and reviews of your apps that are currently there on YA as there is no transfer of apps possible right now for published apps.

If you want to keep the stats, reviews and ratings – you need to wait for the migration that will be done in October/November to transfer these apps.

Thank you.

Meanwhile, can i still update my application in YA? Will it be migrated with the update?

I filled the form and sended to YA, but… how can i know if the form was correctly received by you?

Thanks

Hi Javier,

We are handling updates for published apps. You can submit your app update to YA – it will be migrated with the update in October/November migration by the DevCenter.
As long as you have sent the form and are able to operate on your DevCenter account – everything should be fine.
Your amount will be refunded by the DevCenter in 60- 90 days after the migration deadline.

Thank you,
Yalla Apps Support

Great! thanks for your quick response

I can’t update my application in YA… it says:

Dear Developer, this service is currently unavailable as Dev Center has now open its doors in most countries.
You are encouraged to migrate as soon as possible to enjoy all the benefits. Please read more here.

Thank you.

I actually sent the migration form but I can’t wait until October/November to update it. Please, help me with this issue

I had following message:
“Your email address hasn’t been verified. Go here to have a verification email sent to you.”
I followed the steps several times to get sent a verification email. But i didn’t get a verification email 😦
Still I couldn’t verify my email.

Hi,
Which email to be verified where?
If you email needs to be verified on the Dev Centre, then you will need to check this with the Dev Centre itself. We would recommend you to check your junk mail too.
Thanks.

I do not understand, do you want me to send the application to the Dev Center
Or will be sent from yalla apps
Because I received this letter today from yalla apps

Notes
Hi, Since MS has announced the release of Dev Center and expansion to 180 countries – we are no longer accepting new submissions/resubmissions or handling them. We have announced about this on our Social Media. You need to delete your submission from Yalla Apps and register yourself to the Dev Center and submit your apps to them directly as they do not accept apps from registered countries of Dev Center from us any more. Please read the migration process blog post at the following link: http://blog.yallaapps.com/2012/08/09/migrate-to-windows-dev-center/ Please do not hesitate to contact us for any queries. Thank you, Yalla Apps Support

Thanks

Hi,

As we have mentioned in the email – you need to delete all your ‘Unpublished’ apps (whether they are in submission/testing passed/testing failed state) from the YA dashboard and submit them again through your account on the Dev Center.

Thanks.

I can’t submit a paid app because “You can only submit free apps to the Store because your registered country/region doesn’t allow payments.”

Will it be changed? This matters especially if you plan to stop app submission…

Hi Andrew-S,

We do not have any information on when Dev Centre plans to allow paid submissions for your country. You will need to check this with the Dev Centre itself directly as they alone can provide you with any update on this.
As for YA, we are still having talks on app submissions services – but of now, we are not accepting any new submissions or handling them. We will definitely let our developer community know about any updates in this regard.
Thanks.

Hi, is there any way to manually migrate my apps now without waiting until October/November, and without losing ratings?
In the instruction it is stated:

App Migration Procedure
g. You must provide the name of your apps (if applicable) published and their GUIDs. The GUID is the 32 character ID number found at the end of the URL of your app on marketplace. We also need to know whether you want to republish your app under your new account immediately (Yalla Apps will then unpublish your app on their account so that there is only one instance); or whether you want the Windows Phone Marketplace team to auto migrate your app, which will not take place until October or November.

It is not clear where should I provide the GUID, and if the rating will be lost.

Thanks

Hi,

If you want to migrate your apps immediately – you will have to delete the app from the YA Dashboard. We will then remove it from our account on the DevCenter, thereby removing it from the Marketplace. You can then submit it again through your own account on the DevCenter. In this case – there is no way to migrate your stats or ratings to your app on the Dev Center – as when submitting your app again on the DevCenter as a new app – your GUID is lost and so is the stats related to them.

If you want to keep the stats or ratings for your app – you will need to wait for the October/November migration by DevCenter

Thanks

Hi, I’m from Venezuela and the government has regulations for the amount of dollars we can spend every year with our credit cards. Unfortunately, I already spend that amount.

So my question would be: Is there another way to migrate to Dev Center? Because they don’t even allow me to use my PayPal account to pay.

Hi Fred,

Unfortunately, as far as we know they accept payments only through credit card. You will need to contact them directly if they are able to accept funds from you via any other method. Please send them a support ticket from the Help Tab on the Dev Center site.

Thanks.

Thanks!

I have 2 apps in Yalla. How long is the migration of applications to DevCenter?

Hi,
Please note that the apps that you have already published with the YA will not be migrated to your account on Dev Center immediately. This migration will be handled by App Hub in October/November when they perform the final migration. This has been clearly mentioned in our blog post too.

Hello
I am from Saudi Arabia and I have a problem in the dev Center site
I get this message in my account at the site

Messages
You haven’t completed your tax profile. If you’re interested in publishing paid apps, update your tax info here. Learn more.

When I complete the steps and enter the PIN sender, nothing happens and the message remains
When I send the application two weeks ago, they told me to wait 3 or 4 days
And did not send me an email
I do not know how I delete the application from Yalla apps

Thanks:)

Hi,

You need to ask about the message to the Dev Center team by sending them a support ticket from the Help tab on the site.
If you are trying to submit an app on the Dev Center and facing problems – please ask for support to the Dev Center team – again by sending a support ticket.

on Yalla Apps, we are not handling any app submissions. Your app status should have been changed to submission failed along with an email asking you to delete your apps and submit them through the Dev Center.

Thanks.

Hello this Muhammad from Saudi Arabia and I am a student , I would like to inquiry about if its free or not , and if its approved by the Ministry of our KSA

Hi Hamood,

As mentioned in our blog post – all YA members get to have a one year free developer account on the Dev Center. Dev Center supports app submissions and payouts in Saudi Arabia – therefore, it is approved by the ministry of the country. For more details on Dev Center account benefits for students: please contact them directly by sending them a support ticket from the Help tab at https://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us/home

Thanks.

Hi,

For support on the DevCenter account creation or registration – please contact the DevCenter. You can create a support ticket from the Help tab on their site.
If you use a hotmail/live id that is linked to your DreamSpark – it should solve the problem probably.

Thanks.

hi,
How to contact Devcenter to resolve my problem?
Thanks.

Hi,

You need to go their site and select ‘Get Support’ in the Help Tab on the site. Please find the link for the same:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsphone/help/jj159132(v=vs.105)

Hi!

Can you please advise after which period of time Microsoft will reimburse fee for the subscription for first year, because when registering on Dev Center I’ve been asked to pay the fee, but as I understood first year of subscription should be free and I guess Microsoft will just send money back later.

Thanks

hi,
I have an error of this kind “We weren’t able to find a DreamSpark account associated with your Microsoft account. You can get a new DreamSpark account for free or update your existing account on this DreamSpark page”.

thanks

How long does it take for Microsoft to reimburse the 100$ registration fee?

I have more that 6 years of experience on testing software applications 2 of them on mobile apllication testing; and I want to join the microsoft beta testing team

Hi Osama,

You need to get in touch with DevCenter who can probably give you the right info. Yalla Apps cannot help you in this regard.
You can send a support ticket to DevCenter from the Help tab on the website. They can probably provide you the right info to help you out.

Thanks.

Hi YA,

In the Instructions I see that you all needed a credit card number to do the reimbursments. May i know why is that? because what really deals with the credit card and the reimbursement?

Hi Shazmin,

You need to pay $99 to subscribe to the DevCenter. This payment needs to be done through a credit card as that is the only method of payment DevCenter supports.
This amount will be refunded to you later on by DevCenter to the same credit card through you paid. The refund will take 60 – 90 days from the migration deadline date.

Thanks.

Hi again,

I did activated the DevCenter account today but it didn’t request for any subscription charge like $99. (I did activate with the Dreamspark Account) How can i check whether I’m really Subscribed or not with Devcenter? I checked in the Dev dashboard and it doesn’t show anything about any subscription but it shows as Active profile with an expiration date of 09/04/2013.

Please help.

Thanks

Shazmin

Thanks
İsmail

Hi,

The deadline has been extended to September 17, 2012.
Please follow the instructions and migrate as soon as possible.

Thanks.

When migration becomes effective. My application still in yalaapps and 2 weeks ago I did the registry and follow steps for migration. How much time is needed

Hi,

We have mentioned in the blogpost that the apps will be auto-migrated by the DevCenter only in October/November. This way you will get to keep that stats/reviews and ratings of your app.

If you want to see them on your account immediately – you need to delete them from Yalla Apps. We will remove the app from our account and you can submit them through your own account. This way you will lose the stats/ratings/reviews related to the app since the Marketplace ID will not be the same.

Thanks.
